Steps Therapy Journey

Steps Therapy is a warm, confidential space for mothers and individuals experiencing anxiety, trauma, overwhelm, and emotional exhaustion.
If life feels too much right now, therapy can help you slow down, make sense of what you’re feeling, and gently reconnect with yourself again.
I’m Natelie Henriques, an Integrative Counsellor and Somatic Trauma Therapist specialising in perinatal mental health, trauma, and nervous system regulation.
My work supports you to understand what is happening not only in your thoughts, but also in your body helping you move from overwhelm into steadiness, clarity, and calm.
WHO I SUPPORT
I work with people who are experiencing:
-
Anxiety, panic, or constant worry
-
Emotional exhaustion or burnout
-
Trauma symptoms or feeling “on edge”
-
Pregnancy, birth, or postnatal distress
-
Fertility challenges or pregnancy loss
-
Low mood, sadness, or emotional disconnection
-
Addiction recovery alongside life stress
-
ADHD-related overwhelm or emotional regulation difficulties
-
Grief and significant life transitions
-
Individuals & Couples
YOU MIGHT BE CONSIDERING THERAPY IF YOU…
-
Feel overwhelmed during pregnancy, postpartum, or parenting
-
Experience guilt, intrusive thoughts, or emotional intensity
-
Feel disconnected from yourself or your baby
-
Are trying to cope but feel like you’re holding everything together internally
-
Struggle to rest, switch off, or feel calm
-
Are moving through recovery, loss, or ongoing emotional stress
Whatever you’re carrying, therapy offers a space where you don’t have to hold it alone.
HOW I WORK
My approach is warm, relational, and trauma-informed.
Alongside talking therapy, I also work with the body because trauma, stress, and overwhelm are not only experienced in the mind, but also held in the nervous system.
In sessions, we may explore:
-
emotional patterns and life experiences
-
body sensations and stress responses
-
grounding and calming techniques
-
breath, awareness, and nervous system regulation tools
This helps you begin to understand your internal world in a different way and develop practical tools you can use in everyday life when things feel overwhelming.
The aim is not to “fix” you, but to help your system feel safer, steadier, and more connected.
MY APPROACH
I am an Integrative Counsellor and Somatic Trauma Therapist.
This means I draw on different therapeutic approaches depending on what you need, including:
-
person-centred therapy
-
psychodynamic understanding
-
cognitive behavioural approaches
-
somatic (body-based) trauma work
-
creative and relational therapy
You are not expected to fit into one method the therapy adapts to you.
MY EXPERIENCE
Alongside my private practice, I work with MumsAid, a perinatal mental health charity supporting mothers through pregnancy and postpartum challenges. Offering counselling and also co -faciliating a Trauma Group.
I also bring extensive experience as a Birth and Postnatal Doula, Antenatal Educator, Hypnobirthing Instructor, and Bodyworker.
I have worked within NHS services and community settings supporting families across South East London and North Kent.
My background gives me a deep understanding of the emotional, physical, and identity shifts that can come with motherhood, trauma, and life transitions.
At Steps Therapy, I work in a way that recognises something many people don’t realise at first — trauma, stress, and overwhelm don’t just live in our thoughts, they live in the body.
Whether we meet online, in person, or outdoors, therapy is shaped around your needs. We’ll work together in a way that feels safe, supportive, and at a pace that’s right for you.
About
How I Work With You
To ensure that we are the right fit for each other, I offer a one-off discovery session where we can get to know each other and discuss your expectations and concerns. If we decide to move forward, I typically recommend a minimum of six sessions to start your journey. At the six-session mark, we will collaboratively review our progress and determine whether to continue with more sessions or conclude our work together.
Face to Face Counselling, Online or Walk & Talk Therapy
I offer choice of how we can work. You have a choice of face-to-face counselling support in my cosy, relaxing consultation space in Bexleyheath or I also offer online sessions. I also offer Walk & Talk Counselling Sessions. I understand the importance of flexibility to cater to your specific needs, so I offer both daytime and evening sessions.
